The ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy will be held in February and March 2025. This event was hosted by Pakistan. There is a possibility of a change of venue for the Champions Trophy 2025 because the Indian cricket team cannot travel to Pakistan due to security reasons.

Schedule

The International Cricket Council (ICC) will host the ninth ICC Champions Trophy in the year 2025, which is a cricket competition for the top eight-ranked men’s national teams in One Day International (ODI) competitions. The tournament will be held in Pakistan In February and March 2025.
It will be the next major limited-overs competition after ICC T20 World Cup 2024. This is the first time since the 1996 World Cup that an ICC event is now being held in Pakistan. Pakistan, the champion, secured the first position in the 2017 competition.
According to the IANS report, due to the ongoing issues between Pakistan and India, the Indian cricket team may decide not to go to Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. According to a source, the tournament venue may change. A hybrid model may be followed, as was used for the Asia Cricket Cup 2023. Location

All the matches of Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

Teams

In the year 2025, eight teams that will be participating in the Champions Trophy, are the top-ranked men’s national teams in One Day Internationals (ODIs), including host country team Pakistan.
The selected teams are as under:-

4. New Zealand
5. Afghanistan
6. South Africa
7. Australia
8. England

Format

The format of the Champions Trophy 2025 will be similar to that of the 2017 edition. Eight teams will be included in the tournament, selected based on their rankings at the end of the group stage of the Cricket World Cup 2023.
These teams will be divided into two major groups with four teams in each group. In the group stage, each team will play the rest of their group in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-final match. After the result of the final match, the final qualifier team two teams will compete in the final match.
